How much does Submagic cost in 2026?

The short answer

Submagic costs $19, $39 or $69 per member per month (Starter, Pro, Business) billed monthly, or $12, $23 and $41 a month billed yearly, as of November 2026 per Submagic’s pricing page. Plans include 45, 120 or 300 credits a month, and an upload costs 3 credits. There is a 3-video free trial but no free plan.

Submagic is a browser-based editor that adds styled captions, B-roll, zooms and sound to short videos. Its price depends on two things: how many videos you upload (credits) and how long they are (each plan caps video length). If you are weighing it against another tool, our Submagic alternative comparison covers AnimateCaptions side by side.

Submagic plans and prices at a glance

Prices as of November 2026, checked on 1 November 2026 on Submagic’s pricing page and help center. Prices are in USD per member; the pricing page can also show euro prices (19€, 39€ and 69€ a month). Submagic says annual billing saves up to 41%.

PlanMonthlyYearly (per month)Credits / monthMax video lengthExport
Free trial$0—3 short videos—Watermarked downloads
Starter$19$12 ($144/year)45 (≈15 videos)2 min1080p, 30 FPS
Pro$39$23 ($276/year)120 (≈40 videos)5 min1080p or 2K, 30 FPS
Business$69$41 ($492/year)300 (≈100 videos)30 min1080p or 4K, up to 60 FPS

A Custom plan (custom video counts, video length, members, Magic Clips limits, SSO) is quoted separately. Submagic’s help center also says the maximum file size per video is 3,000 MB on every plan.

What do you get on each Submagic plan?

Starter covers captioned shorts up to 2 minutes; Pro adds the AI clean-up tools; Business adds long videos, 4K and team features. All three paid plans export without a watermark and include AI auto captions, according to the pricing page.

  • Starter ($19/month or $12/month yearly): 45 credits, videos up to 2 minutes, Standard caption templates, free B-roll and audio, text-based trimming, 1080p at 30 FPS, 10 API minutes a month, 1 user.
  • Pro ($39/month or $23/month yearly): 120 credits, videos up to 5 minutes, Premium caption templates, Storyblocks B-roll and audio, AI auto zooms, removal of silences and bad takes, AI clean audio, social publishing and analytics, brand kit, custom templates, 1080p or 2K export.
  • Business ($69/month or $41/month yearly): 300 credits, videos up to 30 minutes, 4K at 60 FPS, logos and brand assets, custom words dictionary, priority support and rendering, 100 API minutes a month, publishing from multiple social accounts.

One inconsistency to note: the pricing page lists Business custom templates as 5 in its comparison table and 10 on the plan card, so check the number in-app if it matters to you.

How do Submagic credits work?

Submagic deducts credits when you upload, not when you export. Its help center lists 3 credits per upload, free exports and free AI auto captions. Every extra AI feature adds credits on top, and all features draw from one monthly pool, so the “15 / 40 / 100 videos” figures assume captions only.

  • +1 credit: translate captions, custom emoji, AI auto zooms.
  • +2 credits: remove silences, AI auto B-rolls, AI hook title, clean audio, remove bad takes, remove background.
  • +3 credits: correct eye contact, voice dubbing.
  • Magic Clips: 8 credits per clip generated from a long video.

Submagic’s own worked example puts an upload with the full AI suite at 17 credits. On that basis, Starter’s 45 credits stretch to about 2 fully processed videos a month, or 11 uploads if you only add auto zooms (4 credits each). If you run out, the help center says you can top up credits from account settings without changing plan.

Does Submagic have a free plan or free trial?

Submagic offers a free trial of 3 short videos, not an ongoing free plan. Its help center says you can upload 3 short videos and edit them however you want, and its pricing page says no credit card is required. Downloading without a watermark requires a subscription, so treat the trial as a test of caption quality and styles rather than a way to publish.

Is Submagic’s annual plan worth it?

Billed yearly, Submagic is about 37% to 41% cheaper than paying monthly. Its help center lists annual prices of $144 (Starter), $276 (Pro) and $492 (Business) per member, against $228, $468 and $828 for 12 monthly payments. That saves $84, $192 and $336 a year. The trade-off is paying a year upfront. Submagic’s help center says you cancel through its Stripe portal and can also pause a subscription for a few months.

Which Submagic plan should you choose?

  • Captioned shorts under 2 minutes, a few a week: Starter.
  • Talking-head videos that need silences and bad takes removed: Pro, since those tools aren’t on Starter.
  • Videos longer than 5 minutes, 4K or a team: Business.
  • Cutting long videos into many clips: budget for 8 credits per Magic Clip, or compare a clipping-first tool in our Opus Clip vs Submagic comparison.

Strengths: Submagic bundles a lot into one editor (B-roll, zooms, audio clean-up, publishing) and says its captions support 123 languages. If you want a mobile-first option instead, see Submagic vs Captions app.

How does AnimateCaptions pricing compare?

AnimateCaptions is cheaper if animated captions are all you need, but it does far less than Submagic. AnimateCaptions, a browser-based tool that auto-transcribes your video and burns in animated, word-by-word captions, has no B-roll, zooms, dubbing or clipping. As of November 2026, per our pricing page:

  • Free: €0, no credit card, 3 videos and 10 renders a month, videos up to 2 minutes, 1080p, exports carry a watermark.
  • Creator: from €6.99/month for 15 videos (€12.99 for 30, €24.99 for 60), up to 2 minutes, no watermark.
  • Pro: from €12.99/month for 15 videos (€19.99 for 30, €32.99 for 60), up to 5 minutes, 1080p and 4K, no watermark.

Plans are billed monthly with a 7-day money-back guarantee. Whichever tool you choose, review auto-generated captions before publishing: the W3C’s guidance on captions notes that automatic captions usually need editing to be accurate.
