How much does Opus Clip cost in 2026?
Opus Clip costs $0 (Free), $15/month (Starter) or $29/month (Pro), as of November 2026 per OpusClip’s pricing page. Pro drops to $14.50/month billed yearly ($174 a year); Starter is monthly only. Plans include 60, 150 or 300 credits a month, and 1 credit processes 1 minute of source video. Business pricing is custom.
Opus Clip is an AI clipping tool: you upload a long video (a podcast, stream or webinar) and it finds short clips, reframes them to vertical and adds animated captions. Its price is driven by how many minutes of source video you process each month. If you are comparing it with other tools, our Opus Clip alternative guide covers the options side by side.

What do you get on each Opus Clip plan?
Free is a trial of the clipping engine; Starter is the cheapest way to publish clean clips; Pro adds the editing, B-roll and team tools. Every plan includes AI clipping, AI captions and auto reframe, according to OpusClip’s pricing page.
- Free ($0): 60 credits a month, clips rendered up to 1080p, auto reframe to 9:16, AI captions with emoji and keyword highlights. Clips have a watermark, there is no editing, and clips can no longer be exported after 3 days.
- Starter ($15/month, monthly only): 150 credits a month, virality score, AI animated captions in 20+ languages, auto posting to YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels, the editor, filler and silence removal, and watermark removal. Exports are available for 30 days and the format stays 9:16.
- Pro ($29/month or $14.50/month yearly): 300 credits a month per pack (you can buy more packs), a team workspace with 2 seats, AI B-roll, 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 output, a social media scheduler, export to Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, custom fonts, 100 GB of storage and uploads up to 30 GB per video.
- Business (custom pricing): custom credits, seats and storage, priority processing, SSO, API and custom integrations, and support through a dedicated Slack channel.
How do Opus Clip credits work?
Opus Clip charges by minutes of source video, not by clips produced. Its help center says processing costs 1 credit per minute of the original video you import, so a one-hour podcast uses about 60 credits however many clips you keep. You can lower usage by processing only part of a video with the timeframe slider.
- Rounding: videos under 1 minute cost 1 credit; partial minutes round down (a 4.5-minute video counts as 4).
- Posting to X: 3 credits per clip, per X account.
- Expiry: monthly-plan credits expire after 60 days, so unused credits roll over for one extra month; yearly-plan credits are valid for 12 months.
- Getting more: paid users can refresh their plan, add Pro packs, upgrade from Starter to Pro, or switch to yearly.
In practice, Starter’s 150 credits cover about two and a half hours of source video a month, and Pro’s 300 credits about five hours per pack.

Try it freeIs the Opus Clip free plan enough?
The Opus Clip free plan is enough to test clip quality, not to run a channel. Its 60 monthly credits cover roughly one hour-long video, but the pricing page lists three limits that matter for publishing: clips have a watermark, there is no editing, and clips can no longer be exported after 3 days.
- Good for: checking whether the AI picks the right moments from your long videos before you pay.
- Not good for: posting branded clips, fixing a wrong caption word, or building a backlog of clips to schedule later.
If the watermark is the main problem, our guide on adding captions without a watermark explains which tools export clean files on which plans.
Is Opus Clip’s annual plan worth it?
Only Pro has an annual option, and it halves the price: $174 a year versus $348 for 12 monthly payments, a saving of $174. Starter is monthly only, so if you want to pay yearly you are choosing Pro, which also adds more credits and team seats. The trade-off is paying a year upfront.
Which Opus Clip plan should you choose?
- Testing whether AI clipping works for your content: Free.
- One creator, up to about 2.5 hours of source video a month, posting to vertical platforms: Starter.
- Weekly podcasts or streams, horizontal or square output, or a second editor: Pro, ideally yearly.
- Clips already cut and only captions needed: a caption tool is cheaper; see our podcast clip captions guide.
Strengths: Opus Clip automatically finds clips in long videos, scores them for virality and reframes them, which a caption-only tool doesn’t do. For a side-by-side with an editor that charges per upload, see Opus Clip vs Submagic, and for other AI clippers see our Klap alternatives roundup.
How does AnimateCaptions pricing compare?
AnimateCaptions is cheaper if you already have short clips and only need captions, but it does not clip long videos. AnimateCaptions, a browser-based tool that auto-transcribes your video and burns in animated, word-by-word captions, has no clipping, reframing or scheduling. As of November 2026, per our pricing page:
- Free: €0, no credit card, 3 videos and 10 renders a month, videos up to 2 minutes, 1080p, exports carry a watermark.
- Creator: from €6.99/month for 15 videos (€12.99 for 30, €24.99 for 60), up to 2 minutes, no watermark.
- Pro: from €12.99/month for 15 videos (€19.99 for 30, €32.99 for 60), up to 5 minutes, 1080p and 4K, no watermark.
Plans are billed monthly with a 7-day money-back guarantee. Whichever tool you use, check auto-generated captions before publishing: the W3C’s guidance on captions notes that automatic captions usually need editing to be accurate.
