What is the best Klap alternative?

The short answer

Opus Clip is the closest Klap alternative for turning long videos into captioned shorts, with a free plan of 60 credits a month and paid plans from $15/month (as of 3 November 2026). Vizard is similar, with a free 720p plan. For short videos you have already cut, Submagic, CapCut or a caption-only tool like AnimateCaptions cost less and give more control over the captions.

Klap is an AI clipping tool: paste a YouTube link or upload a long video and it returns vertical clips with captions, reframing and scheduling to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn. Its FAQ says it works best on speech-heavy videos such as podcasts, interviews and trainings. If you are captioning those clips, our podcast clip captions guide covers styling and readability.

How much does Klap cost?

Klap’s paid plans start at $29 a month for 100 clips, or $14 a month billed yearly, per its pricing page on 3 November 2026. Pro is $79/month ($39 yearly) for 300 clips and Pro+ $189/month ($94 yearly) for 1,000 clips. All plans include AI clipping, unlimited social accounts and analytics.

Klap’s FAQ says you can try it free on 1 video with no credit card and preview and edit the clips, but downloading and posting clips needs a paid plan; paid exports carry no Klap branding. It transcribes in 52 languages. People usually look for a Klap alternative because they want a free plan that can export, cheaper monthly billing, or more control over caption styles.

1. Opus Clip: the closest Klap alternative

Opus Clip does what Klap does: it finds clips in long videos, scores them and adds animated captions, and it has a free plan that can export. One credit covers about one minute of source video.

  • Price (as of Nov 2026): Starter $15/month (monthly only, 150 credits); Pro $29/month or $14.50/month billed yearly ($174), 300 credits, 2 seats; Business custom.

  • Watermark: on Free; removed from Starter up.
  • Best for: podcasters and streamers who want AI to pick the moments.
  • Watch out for: credits are consumed by source minutes, so long uploads use them quickly.

Full plan details are in our Opus Clip pricing breakdown and Opus Clip alternative page.

2. Vizard: AI clipping with a full editor

Vizard also turns long recordings into clips, and its free plan includes full access to the video editor, which Opus Clip’s free plan does not.

  • Price (as of Nov 2026): Creator $29/month or $14.50/month billed yearly ($174); Business $39/month or $19.50/month yearly ($234), plus $5/month per extra team seat.
  • Free plan: 60 credits a month (1 credit = 1 minute of video), uploads up to 60 minutes and 1 GB, 720p export, 3-day storage.
  • Watermark: Creator lists “no watermark”; watermark removal isn’t included on Free.
  • Best for: clipping plus manual edits, SRT transcript downloads on paid plans, and 4K export.
  • Watch out for: free exports are 720p and capped at 10 minutes.

3. Submagic: editing and captions for short videos

Submagic is built for editing short videos you already have, with AI captions, B-roll, zooms and silence removal, rather than finding clips in hours of footage.

  • Price (as of Nov 2026): Starter $12, Pro $23 and Business $41 per member per month, billed yearly (15, 40 and up to 100 videos a month).
  • Free plan: none listed; you can start without a credit card.
  • Watermark: none on any paid plan.
  • Max video length: 2 minutes on Starter, 5 on Pro, 30 on Business.

See our Submagic pricing guide for monthly prices and credit costs.

4. CapCut: a free full editor with auto captions

CapCut is a complete editor on mobile, desktop and web, and its auto caption generator page describes auto captions as free of charge. You cut and arrange clips yourself, with templates, effects and AI tools.

  • Price (as of 3 Nov 2026, Netherlands): Pro €34.99/month or €349/year; Ultra €68/month; Teams from €14.99 per seat per month. CapCut says prices are for reference and vary by account and region.
  • Free plan: free templates and basic editing tools; new users can try Pro free for 7 days.
  • Best for: creators who want one free app for editing and captioning.
  • Watch out for: premium templates and Pro features need a paid plan.

Details in our CapCut Pro price guide.

5. AnimateCaptions: captions only, from €6.99

AnimateCaptions, a browser-based tool that auto-transcribes your video and burns in animated, word-by-word captions, is the cheapest option here if you already have the clip. It does not find clips in long videos, so it replaces Klap’s captioning step, not its clipping.

  • Price (as of 3 Nov 2026): Creator from €6.99/month (15 videos; 30 for €12.99, 60 for €24.99); Pro from €12.99/month (15 videos; 30 for €19.99, 60 for €32.99). Billed monthly, 7-day money-back guarantee. See pricing.
  • Free plan: 3 videos and 10 renders a month, up to 2 minutes, 1080p, no credit card.
  • Watermark: free exports carry a watermark; paid plans have none.
  • Max video length: 2 minutes (Free, Creator), 5 minutes (Pro); MP4 or MOV up to 500 MB.
  • Best for: 32+ animated styles (Hormozi, Beast and more) with an editable transcript.
  • Watch out for: no AI clipping, no SRT files, no long videos.

Which Klap alternative should you choose?

  • You want AI to clip long videos: Opus Clip, or Vizard if you also want an editor on the free plan.
  • You edit short videos and want B-roll and zooms: Submagic.
  • You want one free app for everything: CapCut.
  • You already have the clip and want standout captions: AnimateCaptions.

Strengths of Klap: clips counted per output rather than per source minute, unlimited social accounts on every plan, 52 transcription languages and automatic reframing for split-screen, screencast and gaming layouts. If those matter most, Klap may still be the right pick.

Whatever you choose, check auto captions before posting; the W3C’s guidance on captions notes that automatic captions usually need editing. We checked every price here on 3 November 2026; confirm on each vendor’s site before you subscribe.
